Week 145

We’re going dark until September.

This summer is a bit different. I just arrived in London, where the weather has been showing Berlin what a great summer looks like with sometimes 10 degrees more than Berlin. But this summer is also different when it comes to work load. The last two years, Julys have been among our most quiet months. This year, it might just be our busiest month in our company history. Unfortunately, that also seems to be the case for the world when you look at what’s happening everywhere. As I mentioned in my last week note, this is a tough challenge for us: Managing a heavy load of work while at the same time following and participating in the discussions around data privacy and our civil liberties. We need to do now, what we’re really bad at: focusing. That’s why we have decided to “go dark” until the end of August at least. No more Week Notes and Weekly Reads until then.

It’s a great challenge for us because observing all those developments and reading up on them is an essential part of our work. Being “all over the place” is part of our profile. But sometimes you have to step out of that, put everything else on hold and zoom in on the task in front of you. To be honest, this is another one of those experiments we like to do. Not sure if it’ll work but nevertheless interested what the results will be.
